On Monday the year 5 and 6 children went on camp, most of us all went. We first arrived at school and loaded our luggage into the hall we then waited for everyone to arrive including the buses so we can leave. Next we Packed our things into a compartment at the bottom of the bus, then we got on the bus. On the bus we took a few photos while we drove on a long ride to living springs farmyard. After about 30 minutes we all arrived at the farmyard and hopped off the bus so the bus can go all the way up a hill to drop out luggage off at the camp. At the farmyard we were split into 2 groups after having some morning tea. One group walked over to milk a cow and feed a calf which was very interesting. We first milked a cow, we squeezed he cow's udder a little to make milk pure out. Unfortunately we didn't all get a turn but those that did really enjoyed it. Next we fed a baby cow e.g. calf, the people who didn't get to milk the cow all had a turn to feed the calf and it was kinda crazy. The cow keeped pulling the bottle we were feeding it with and it was kinda tricky to keep a hold of the bottle but we all managed. The 2nd group got to go on a ride on a trailer attached to a tractor. The trailer ride was super fun and we saw heaps of animals on the ride and a really cool skull of a type of animal. Once each group had a turn doing both we sat down for lunch at old tables that were covered in bird poo and bugs. After lunch we go into a small groups that we were assigned to and stated walking up a steep hill for about 30 to 40 minutes. Half way up the hell walk we got stopped in the middle of a bush to be warned about a spiky plant that stings and has spikes down the middle and the sides, we had to be super aware of this plant on put whole trip. Once we had finally reached the camp my legs hurt and I was about to collapse well I felt like it anyway. we got shown to our bunk rooms and I immediately dibs one of the top bunks. The bunk rooms were really nice but had a few insects in them. The room e and my bunk mates had had 4 bunks but the bottom of my bunk had a double bed that was Ans bed. We then got settled in and went to have afternoon tea. After our lovely food we went to a few groups. My group was first doing swimming the pool a little smaller then the school pool but the deep end was definitely deep. We just id free play in the pool and then hot out and went to get dressed. We had to put on shorts if we weren't wearing them already because it was over 30 degrees outside. And then I went zip lining down a hill above thorn bushes and trees. We got harnessed into a strap and put on a helmet and then pretended we were sitting down and then wooosh down we go. After that fun experience I went on the monorail and then it all went down hill literally...  I climed up a hill then waited my turn in a short line waiting to live HELL. Once it was my turn to go down i felt scared and buckled my seat belt and then I got pushed down. The monorail went so fast and had a super sharp turn and then I basically couldn't move i was in schock. And then i had dinner whitch was chiken curry, did a burma trail and then had a game of spotlight and that was day 1 for camp. Do you want a day two? comment your answer

my reflection on 2020

 2020 has been a tough year with viruses but my experience at south hornby school has been one of my best. I have been to many different schools but I have to say south hornby school has been the best. This year has been filled with super fun surprises like swimming and camp fairy meed. Most of the students here are so lovely and i'm not gonna say specific names. the teachers have been superb with teaching everybody and have some amazing facts.

endangered animals inquiry term 4

 It this blog I am going to tell you and show you some things about deforestation that includes: what is a habitat, what is deforestation and how can I help. A habitat is a place where something lives such as a bird lives in a nest. Habitats are important because they usually make someone e.g. something comfortable. A habitat is a natural home. Deforestation is when someone's e.g. something's habitat is destroyed and can never be the same again. I think it would be amazing for you to help your favourite animals and creatures survive deforestation and habitat destruction which is the same thing, by planting native plants and donating a dollar or two to a fundraising team for deforestation and habitat destruction. this is my work for a DLO about habitats and habitat destruction

meerkat story week 1 term4

 In writing this week wee have been writing about a meerkat video that we watched. What was challenging was that I Couldn't work out how to start the story but I ended getting it. here is what my story was like.

This term has been so fun it is sad for it to be ending. Punui o toka has been doing some amazing P.E and learning such as making food, clothes and toys. Although there has been a few mishaps with fighting and things breaking things have been so awesome. I hope you have enjoyed this term.  In technology I am in clothing, in clothing we have made some clothes. What we did: We got a big piece of paper and started planning our outfit and got into groups. Then we got half a sheet and started cutting out your outfit I made a pink top  (I had no choice of the colour) Next we sewed the clothing together i will show a picture in another blog byeee

in maths we have been doing volume in cubes ad cuboids what we do is we measure the height width and depth and then times the time table here is a little more in how to do it.

P.E

 Today the the year 6 kids did P.E in the hall. First we played rock paper scissors What we did was run around cones and played paper scissors rock if you bet the other person you keep on along and if you lose you go back to your group as their is an a and a b group, the goal of the game is to go all around the circle. After that we played an animal game like we lined up in a group of 4 or 5 and then miss Williamson will give us all a walk to do as an animal a really funny one was the bear walk when you bend and stick your back legs up and then walk along the floor. calendar art

 In calendar art I have been making water painted circles and then cut out my own design on black paper then glued onto my circles. A challenging task about this was getting the circles to be neat and the same with the cutting. Something I did good at was some of the patterns in my circles. This is what my calendar art looked like I hope you like it.

In reading I am in the group less meat and my group had to do some research on the questions we were given down below you will see a slide show that is where my questions and answers are. Doing this task was challenging because it was hard to find the right research and something that was easy was writing it. have a look and tell me your opinion.

 Over the past couple of weeks in reading we have been writing describe a  moment in time on our Chromebooks. we wrote 3 or 4 paragraphs all about either see, hear, smell, taste and feel. I did four. Today I did an extra paragraph and my conclusion this is how it looked

today in reading if we finished all of our work we could do a wonder book cover portrait of ourselves. I was super quick to finish my work so I got more time to choose my hair, ears,accessorises and my eye which I thought personally was very cool because when you clicked an eye your eye would only go onto one side of your face and the logo wonder would go over it. We did wonder because that is the book we are currently reading. The thing that was challenging about the wonder cover was taking a screenshot  of my work because it keeps scrolling super fast up when you take a screen shot probably because you needed to zoom in. I think my precept means that if you be kind to other people then people will be kind to you back. I think this saying is special because its like a smile its contagious and I believe that it is the same with kindness. This is my wonder book cover

persuasive writing.

Over the past few weeks miss Mclouds writing group have been learning how to write persuasive writing. We wrote A persuasive writing text about, animals, scooters, dogs and cats and the one that I did should kids wear school uniform. I disagreed to this because it is expensive and itchy. This is what mine looked like looked like.

 Writing this took a few weeks. It was fun writing this because it is fun to come up with strong arguments to persuade the reader to agree with you witch is the point of the writing. I really want to do this again sometime. I am exited to go to university  when I am older and know all about persuasive writing.

Art 2020

In art lately we have been cutting in half a photo of ourselves then drawing the other half after gluing our half face on a peace of white paper. Once we had finished drawing the other half that had taken a coupe of weeks we glued on a few words that people had said about you like amazing a good friend and more. Now that i am finished i'm blogging about art. Art has been very fun and i wonder what were gonna do next.

Today we have been gifted with a pizza day we got given a notice to take home to circle a flavour pizza all for free there was pepperoni simply cheese veges trio and lots more. When i came to school i was very exited cause pizzas my favourite food. All we need to do is hand in the notice then wait for lunch for a delicious treat. Do you like pizza?

Today in writing we wrote down a recipe here is mine.

what I've been doing in lock down

during lock down it has been very strange. Have you ever eaten just for fun or purposely eat broccoli ?
i personally like Brussels sprouts so i eat them for fun i don't think you would though. I done very well with going on walks and bike rides although i only walk to the pantry i do bike 5 ks though. What have you been doing in lock down?

today in inquiry we made a character and put on a few accessory's we had to still make it look like other people can tell who you are  it was so fun a few people struggled to log in but otherwise it was awesome and i,m definitely enjoying it.

my lock down

as we all know we are in lock down well i'm gonna tell you what I've been doing

i have been on my nanas farm well my mum works and I've been riding the big farm motorbike and watching my granddads 5 month old pup do and excellent  job herding the sheep as well as having a lot of arguments with my evil cousin who has  been living with my nana for a while now. Shes at university studying for a job at the police force hows your lock down going
